Sosoboy Fosho—the Afro‑Trap maestro emerging from Mdantsane township in East London—is quickly becoming the voice of his generation. Melding Hip‑hop, R&B, and Afropop, and rapping passionately in isiXhosa, his music pulses with authenticity.
Inspired by the global success of Burna Boy, Sosoboy channels that energy in his own way: “Being my authentic self really drives me,” he admits. His creative process is raw and soulful—starting with a beat, following emotion as the melody forms, then weaving in heartfelt Xhosa lyrics that reflect real-life experiences of love, struggle, and ambition.
The turning point came with “Mine”, a love‑struck Xhosa track featured on House of Zwide’s soundtrack—a powerful blend of local storytelling and mainstream reach. The response was instant, driving the song’s virality and catching the eye of Asanda from Asanda Empires. A flight to Johannesburg later, and Sosoboy’s journey took off.
Now, with his EP Pink Roses on the scene, he’s showcasing his Afro‑Trap flair and forging collaborations with fellow rising stars. Social media has become his megaphone—reels and posts have landed new fans around the globe.
At the core of his art is the essence of his homeland—Mdantsane’s heartbeat.
