HISHAM is a rising recording artist residing in Chicago. He first got his break by being featured on a segment of iHeartRadio’s artist Spotlight and then continued his momentum by releasing several back-to-back double singles this past year.
We recently had the opportunity to sit down with him and let our audience know a bit more about him beyond the music!
HISHAM, it’s great to have you; thank you for being here! Let’s start with this question: What brought you mainstream music culture, specifically the Hip Hop scene?
I’ve always been inclined to create honest music; I find that the industry is so fast-paced; there are always new sounds and modern ways of projecting your voice. Sometimes it’s simplicity, creating relevant music that connects with people. I’m somewhere in the middle, I love making genre-bending music, and I believe that meeting people where they’re at is the best way to make a difference in their lives.
What was the first record you started writing this year?
I think it was She Say. I remember coming home from a concert that night and knowing that I had a flight to catch early the next day — I can’t even remember if I slept that night.. I remember looking out the window watching the moon; I opened my phone and pulled up notes. I started writing the melody that night. That’s where the inspiration came from.
You are a pretty diverse artist; describe the music scene in your neck of the woods?
Initially, I thought the Chicago music scene was too saturated for artists lik me, But in reality, no matter where you go in the world, there’s always creatives, always some hidden talent waiting to be discovered. So it’s a matter of being in the right place at the right time; sometimes, I call that divine intervention. Pretty crazy.
Who and what are your influences?
Always loved Drake, Scott Storch, Timbaland and Nas
What artists are you listening to right now?
A bit of everything, to be honest!
Who would you like to work with in the future?
Collab with Dr. Dre for sure!
What steps would you take as an artist to break an artist in your area?
Well, publicity is everything, touring, putting out great music that people remember!
Last but not least, What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!”
Haha, is that a meme? I don’t know!
HISHAM It’s been a pleasure. Thank you so much for taking the time with us. We know people will resonate with what you’ve shared.
We look forward to your upcoming projects in the new year!
