Stage name: The Last Poet
I was born at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. My entire family is from Queens, NY. I would say I was raised in both places equally.
I have been making music for as long as I can remember. I played the flute and oboe throughout school, along with other instruments. My first remix ever was in 10th grade and to Nicki Minaj’s Massive Attack. It’s still tough. I should record it. I recorded my first song in my bathroom after my cousin Darkim was shot and killed a year later. It was to the beat of Juicy by Biggie.
My first official song released was a Chun-Li Remix. Also still goes extremely crazy. It’s on my Youtube channel!
My first project was a very short EP called Hip-Hop Baby. It is on all streaming.
Admiral Atlas produced the beat for my song No Features, and my song Lyrical. When I first heard his beats, they felt like HOME! He brings the best out of me. He has a beat tape out right now called Songs for Barbara.
To quote my song No Features, “Flow angry, like egregious. I don’t f***in’ want no features. On the track, I’m always nicest.”
If I could work with any one artist, it would be Miss E. Misdemeanor Elliot; the baddest in the game for eternity.
I’m independent. I’ll never f***in’ go pop.
My mother is my biggest supporter. Next in line are my friends and fellow Creatives: Admiral Atlas, DreDreamer, Paris Jemm of Rolling Woods Media, Who’s Los, Licui, Raeya, Russell Woods and the Oracle Josi.
I am currently working on gaining funding four a nomadic trip across the country I’ve entitled: The Hood Tour. I quit my job. Threw away most of my worldly possessions. I am fixing my own car. And I am going out to see what there is to see, make beautiful music, and help people through community work.
My latest release is the music video for Pressure, by Lanae Gray & Company. Beats by NYOBeats. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered by me: https://youtu.be/U_GqMMI-
I am also dropping a single called Trippy soon. Beat is experimental sound by Russell Woods.
I want to perform in Atlanta and Houston; the south in general. They have kept hip-hop alive, and all my favorite femcees are from the dirty.
Before I rapped, I performed at the Kennedy Center and Disney World multiple times with my concert band. As a rapper, I think my biggest crowd was the Funk Parade a few years back when I shared a stage with Oshun and Malia Vibes.
I WANT TO TOUR WITH DEETRANADA!!!! DEE IF YOU’RE READING THIS PICK ME RIGHT NOW!
I have not seen anything in 5 years, or even 5 months. I am on a journey of going with the flow. My entire life I have overthought, overachieved, and over planned. I am doing something different, this time.
