DDG and Nick Cannon traded personal insults during a recent Wild ’N Out rap battle that quickly went viral online.
The moment unfolded during a livestream on Saturday, May 9, when DDG broadcast the rap battle to fans. What started as playful roasting soon escalated into jokes about parenting, relationships, and custody situations.
According to clips circulating online, DDG fired one of the night’s most controversial bars at Cannon by joking about the TV personality’s large family and child support responsibilities. The rapper also referenced Cannon having children with multiple women, pushing the battle into much more personal territory.
Nick Cannon responded with a sharp comeback referencing DDG’s previous custody dispute involving Halle Bailey and their son. Cannon’s line suggested that while DDG joked about his parenting situation, he at least maintained access to his own children.
The exchange immediately drew reactions online because of how personal the battle became.
DDG later continued the back-and-forth with additional jokes aimed at Cannon’s relationships and his connection to Mariah Carey, though some viewers felt the final lines either missed the mark or crossed the line unnecessarily.
At one point, Cannon simply replied, “Not all of them,” after DDG insulted the mothers of Cannon’s children.
Despite the tense moment, DDG later clarified on stream that he did not truly mean the comments and explained that many of the battle bars were generated with help from ChatGPT.
“Nick, I don’t think you should wild and abort,” DDG said afterward while laughing about the situation. He also apologized for insulting Cannon’s children’s mothers and admitted he reacted emotionally after Cannon referenced his custody issues.
The rapper acknowledged that Cannon’s response caught him off guard, explaining that he struggled to come up with an effective rebuttal in the moment.
Fortunately, the situation does not appear to be developing into any serious feud. Wild ’N Out has long been known for exaggerated roast-style comedy and personal jokes, and both DDG and Nick Cannon later suggested there was no real animosity between them after filming ended.
The two have crossed paths before, as Cannon previously commented on DDG’s relationship history and the streamer has appeared in the Wild ’N Out world before. For now, it seems the viral battle was simply another chaotic moment from the long-running comedy series rather than the start of an actual conflict.
