DJ Akademiks has added his voice to one of hip-hop’s biggest ongoing legal stories after reacting to an alleged video connected to the federal case involving Pooh Shiesty and Gucci Mane.
The footage, which recently began circulating online, is believed to be tied to prosecutors’ evidence in the criminal case stemming from an alleged January 2026 confrontation at a Dallas recording studio. Authorities claim the meeting, originally intended to address Pooh Shiesty’s recording contract with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, escalated into an armed robbery and kidnapping. Prosecutors allege the defendants forced paperwork to be signed releasing Shiesty from his contract while valuables were taken from those present.
During a livestream, Akademiks shared his thoughts on the alleged footage, saying the video significantly changes how many people may view the case. He suggested that if the recording is authentic and accurately reflects prosecutors’ claims, it could become one of the most damaging pieces of evidence presented during trial.
Akademiks also discussed the seriousness of the federal charges, noting that public opinion often shifts when visual evidence becomes available. While he stopped short of declaring anyone guilty, he acknowledged that juries can be heavily influenced by surveillance footage or recordings introduced during court proceedings.
The federal investigation remains ongoing, and Pooh Shiesty has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His legal team has not publicly addressed the recently circulated video, and authorities have yet to release additional details regarding the evidence expected to be presented at trial.
The case has generated widespread attention throughout the hip-hop community, with artists, media personalities, and fans continuing to debate both the allegations and the legal process. Akademiks’ reaction has only added to the conversation, as his commentary frequently sparks discussion across social media.
As the case moves closer to trial, more information is expected to emerge. Until then, the alleged footage—and the reactions surrounding it—will likely remain a major topic throughout the hip-hop world.
