What 3 things does anyone starting in your industry need to know?
Nothing happens overnight. You need to be patient and dedicated to everything that comes with this: your creativity, the people you gather for your team, and seeing progress in your journey.
What would you do differently if you were starting in your industry now?
I wouldn’t do anything differently because learning comes from experience. You have to go through challenges to learn the ins and outs. You can’t show someone how to be an artist; it’s your own picture you’re painting, so you have to experience all the highs and lows.
Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?
Mainly my family, my guardian angels, and my favorite rappers over the years. They all played a part in my image and persona.
What has been your biggest success story? Why do you think it was a success?
Just becoming a man first and developing my artistry. Like I said, it didn’t happen overnight; it goes hand in hand with the journey.
What keeps you going when things get tough in the music industry?
What keeps me going is everything I had to go through to get to this point and everything I have yet to do and want to accomplish.
What made you pursue being an artist full time?
At first, it was something everyone around me was doing and trying to get me involved in. Initially, I did it to support my crew, but once I had some time to reflect, I found that it’s a good outlet. It helps with a lot I was going through and couldn’t express in regular conversation. It’s like talking to myself on tracks about who I was yesterday and who I’m trying to be tomorrow.
Would you sign to a label?
I wouldn’t sign to a label because I want to be in charge of when I drop, who I collaborate with, and who I want around me. I want to hand-pick everything that has to do with me and my legacy. Unless I get that freedom, I’m cool on signing with anybody.
What projects are you working on for the rest of 2024?
You can look forward to singles coming out for my debut album, “Daron’s Son,” coming right before the end of the year. I’m going to keep y’all fed but hungry at the same time. Stay tuned; it’s only the beginning.
