In a surprising twist, Grammy award-winning singer Faith Evans and record producer Stevie J are reportedly nearing a peaceful resolution to their highly-publicized divorce, as revealed by recent court documents filed in Los Angeles County.
According to The Blast, Stevie J, the acclaimed former producer at Bad Boy Records, submitted a statement of disclosure, essentially outlining the couple’s financial standing. Though specifics of the statement remain under wraps, legal connoisseurs indicate that this move heralds an impending divorce settlement. The ex-couple may, however, opt to keep the settlement details private.
This development marks a hopeful shift after an episode earlier this year where tensions escalated. Faith Evans, celebrated for her hit “Love Like This”, alleged that Stevie J, also known for his stint on Love & Hip Hop, unlawfully took her newly-acquired 2023 Mercedes Sprinter Van for a spin to Coachella. The incident purportedly occurred while Evans was asleep, with Stevie J supposedly swiping the keys and driving off.
In response, Evans took legal action, lodging an emergency motion to reclaim her van which she had purchased outright for $164,000. The singer also petitioned the court to prohibit Stevie J from driving not only the van but also her other vehicles, including a 2020 Mercedes G Wagon and a Chrysler Pacifica, citing that the insurance policy didn’t cover him and his license was suspended.
Court documents reveal that Evans had filed a police report on April 12 regarding the stolen vehicle. The court consequently mandated an immediate return of the van.
This turnaround signifies a conciliatory step for the couple. By moving past the “stolen” vehicle incident, Faith Evans and Stevie J appear to be approaching a more amicable closure to their divorce proceedings.
