1. What is your name/stage name?
Originally it was Kingz Kounty 2wIInz but we changed it to 2wIIn Kingz knowing how we felt amongst those considered our peers.
2. When is your birthday?
January 14th, 1991. Same day as the great LL Cool J.
3. Where are you from?
We were born in Maryland but we were raised in Brooklyn, New York. Specifically East Flatbush in the 40’s… if you know, you know.
4. What do you do?
We keep our work life and music life completely separated but we both work our respected 9 to 5 jobs. As Grown men, fathers and providers we have to take care of our responsibilities. As soon as our music life pays more than our respected jobs we’re gonna have the most epic “day I quit scene” the world is ever gonna see.. lls.
5. How long have you been making music?
We started writing when we were 9 years old. We overheard a freestyle cypher involving our older cousin in soundview park in the Bronx, New York. We started writing bars on napkins because we didn’t have a notebook at the time. True lyricsts can never forget their first rhyme.
6. What was your first song/project?
We recorded our first song titled “Boomerang” in 2005. It got a strong enough buzz in our high school, William E. Grady, that our coaches, teachers and peers all knew the song. Every time they saw us, they would just start rapping our lyrics. Our football coach used to play it in practice when we did something he liked.
7. Who’s your inspiration?
God, our kids and each other. We don’t allow each other to lose focus, ever. We constantly push each other in everything that we do. From writing better bars to purchasing a bigger house we are gonna motivate each other to reach new heights no matter what.
8. What genre of music do you create?
Hip Hop and Rap.
9. Do you come up with your video concepts?
Absolutely. We take great pride in the creative process for each song. From the development of the message, song structure, topic, recording, visuals, we make sure each step of the process is methodically made and in line with what we are promoting.
10. What was it like working with _____________
Working with Fat Joe and Busta Rhymes was a definitive milestone. It reminded us that we are closer to achieving our goals than we originally thought. It can be a daunting task to make a wave in a game in which everyone believes that they are Tom Brady. Working with them showed us it really can be done.
