It’s often said that you don’t choose to pursue music as a career choice, music chooses you. That appears to be definitely the case for hip-hop artist Thais Gonzalez. The native New Yorker has chosen to put both a successful acting and modeling career on hold and focus solely on her first and most abiding love – music.
“In life, you’ve always got to do what feels right,” explained Thais. “And music has always felt right for me. Music is what gets me through and what gives me an outlet. You could say it’s my drug of choice. If I’ve got music in my life I know I’m always going to be alright.”
Thais Gonzalez’s legion of fans would no doubt agree with her. The rapper made a name for herself in the hip-hop community as “Princes Thais.” Her singles “Took His Money” and “Heat” were club favorites and received a lot of radio play throughout the States.
Thais explained, “Those early singles were produced by and featured rapper Parrish Smith of EPMD. To work with such an established hip hop legend was a definite learning curve and an awesome experience.”
Looking to evolve as an artist, Thais has taken up piano and violin lessons to give her distinctive sound a more versatile and innovative edge.
Thais explained, “Music presents a world of unlimited possibilities as long as you have the skills to realize your vision. My dream is to release a single where I play every instrument, rap every line, and lay down every beat. My fans make me feel this is possible and so I’m simply going to go for it.”
Thais is renowned for attracting fiercely loyal fans who study her every move on her Instagram page and keep begging her for more music. It’s why she has chosen to go all-in with her hip-hop career.
Thais said, “Don’t get me wrong, I love modeling and acting, but music is where it’s really at for me. The response I get from people who dig my tunes is unbelievable. It’s a mind-blowing experience to put something you created in the world and have it mean so much to so many people. You could say it’s my fans who persuaded me to keep creating and keep innovating.”
With some major labels expressing interest in getting Thais into the recording studio, her fanbase looks set to expand considerably in the not-too-distant future, and more and more people can finally get a taste of what all the fuss is about.
