Growing up in Champagne, IL, Dre Band$ always had a fondness for rap music but didn’t pursue his vision to create his own until he had graduated from Urbana High School in 2016.
Following his graduation, Dre joined rap group FloatGang for a year until serving in the Air Force and subsequently being released a year later. Influenced by his time with FloatGang as well as the Air Force, Dre began his solo career and started his own label Gwap Gang Records in 2018.
After the death of his best friend in 2019, Dre picked up the pieces with the help of his music and his family. He gives enormous credit to his older sister who is his biggest fan, and to his little brother who contributes behind the scenes to help Dre Band$ perfect his product for the people. Band$ is all about the music and the money.
He wants to encourage his listeners to not only go after what they want in life – like him – but to ensure their financial security, too. Dre is working alongside his team of engineers and producers to seize all the possible bags for the taking. Band$ is inspired creatively by the likes of G Herbo, BabyFace Ray, and the late Young Dolph; adding that “it’d be a dream to work with G Herbo or BabyFace Ray”. His current task at hand is to wrap up and release Grind with a Passion in early October, as well as putting the juice into Real Bands, a track with Nik Real Lil Water debuting in 2023.
