4. What do you do?
“I make some of the dopest music one can find as an artist and producer. Mainly hip hop music, but I also create R&B tunes every now and then. I’m also an entrepreneur.”
5. How long have you been making music?
“As long as I can remember.”
6. What was your first song/project?
“My first song was from a set of demos I made with west coast rap veteran Shade Sheist.”
7. Who’s your inspiration?
“Kobe Bryant always has and still is an inspiration. I’ve been inspired by many greats from many different arenas. In the music spectrum it’s been Dr. Dre, DJ Quik, DJ Premier, J. Cole, Ye, Outkast, Nas, Jay-Z, Kendrick, Drake. I’m even still inspired by Nipsey, Michael Jackson.”
8. What genre of music do you create?
“Hip hop and R&B/Soul.”
9. Do you come up with your video concepts?
“I was very hands-on in the development of the concept for the video I’m currently working on for my newest single Go Up.”
10. What was it like working with Shade Sheist?
“Working with Shade Sheist was a great experience. It’s helped me grow as an artist and businessman in this industry.”
11. What are some features you have?
“My current project has features from rapper Hitman Loyal and singer/songwriter A Smith.”
12. What are some features you want to get?
“I’d love to have features from Kendrick Lamar, Lil Durk, Young Thug, and Anderson.Paak. They all bring such a great presence to a record.”
13. Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
“Andre 3000.”
14. Are you signed to a label?
“All my music is currently being released under my own label launched earlier this year, River Flowz Entertainment.”
15. Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
“I’d prefer a distribution deal at the point I’m at right now.”
16. Who are your biggest supporters?
“My family.”
17. Where did your name come from?
“Growing up, my family would sometimes refer to me as Sleepy, because I have sleepy eyes. My last name is Cross, so I just put the two together.”
18. Do you write your own material?
“I write all my raps for the most part. However, there are some other great writers that put their touch on some of my material. For example, Love Song Reinvented, got great contributions from phenomenal R&B singer/songwriter A. Smith.”
19. Do you create your own music video concepts?
“I try to take input from those around me when it comes to creating music video concepts.”
20. What’s your favorite music to listen to?
“Hip hop.”
21. What are you currently working on?
“I’m getting my debut album, “Plane Mode”, ready. That includes touching up some tracks and getting the music videos ready.
22. What is your latest release?
“It’s a rap-r&b hybrid called “Love Song Reinvented”. It features Hitman Loyal and A Smith.”
23. When is your next release?
“My next release, “Go Up”, is dropping at the end of March.”
24. Are you the type to pull up alone or with a group of people?
“That depends on the type of function I’m pulling up to. I’m more than likely to come through with a group, but there are some occasions where I feel best to fall in solo.”
25. What is one stage you want to sell-out?
“Staples Center.”
26. Where is one place you want to travel to perform?
“It would be dope to perform somewhere on the African continent.”
27. What’s the biggest crowd that you have performed for?
“1200.”
28. Who’s someone you can see yourself on tour with?
“Kendrick Lamar.”
29. Who produces your music?
“All my material is produced by me.”
30. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“In 5 years, I see myself building my empire and having acquired over 20 partnerships. Not only will I excel in the music industry, but also in my business enterprises.”
31. What’s your favorite clothing brand?
“There’s a lot of designers I’m really into I can’t even name one.
32. Where do you shop?
“I shop at many places as long as the threads are stylish.”
33. What’s your favorite type of car?
“I really like the Jaguar I-PACE at the moment.”
34. What’s your favorite place to travel to?
“Las Vegas is at the top of the list.”
35. Did COVID change your career for better or worse?
On the contrary, I’ve benefited in a lot of ways from the situation. For example, I delayed my album release due to the fact that I wouldn’t be able to tour. This turned out to be a great move because I was able to make the album even better.”
