Interview with “Luminous”

My stage name is “Luminous”(Musicc). Alot of people have told me over time that they like my music because i spit “reality bars”. I can deliver any style but the way i put my words together you can tell who some of my influences arenas far as established artists. Hence the word “Luminous”(Luminary) You can see my words.

Im from Greenville, N.C.

I’ve been writing and doing music since a teenager, maybe around 14-15 yrs old. But within the last 3 years i’ve gotten serious about recording and actually pushing my own brand.

My first project was with one of my big bros and the actual person who made me want to rap as a youngin, “Juice”. He had just got out and we put sort of a compilation mixtape together with a select few others close to us. It was called “More than a Mixtape” Vol. 1. We just snapped on different industry beats and i’ve been addicted to the studio experience ever since.

My inspiration comes from my close kin, relatives and true homies. I try to surround myself with like-minded individuals and alot of them are doing things as of now that motivates me to keep coming for what i deserve. I have cousin “Freedom”, who runs his own Cross Fit gym, and more..Homies and close friends with clothing lines, Non-profits, and more. A couple brothers thats barbers, videographers, etc. I want to get to that level in life where i can work for myself and make money while i sleep comfortably. They keep me going.

It was crazy working with 808Kartel. I think i found them on IG or something and once i followed them i got an email with like 5 free beats i believe it was. It was one that had me as soon as i played it. It was different. That beat i took and recorded the outro for my EP the next day.

I have two joint mixtapes with an independent artist named “Moshe Dondada” who is also a cousin on mine. “BoyMeetsWorld” & “DreamChasin Pt.2: The saga Continues”. That is exclusively on AudioMack. There’s a joint called “Know it All” produced by MajikMann available to stream that’s one of the main ones i always get rave reviews for when i’m out in public and run into people who’ve listened. I have several great features as far as mixtape stuff and i murder every verse.

There’s plenty of our late greats i respect for everything they did to leave their legacy behind but if i have to choose one then it would be Biggie. The game that i could possibly soak in from him just being in the same room with him and being another person from middle class with a dream, it’s something that would’ve probably left me in awe.

To be honest, i’d rather have a great distribution deal that could possibly lead to a big contract that includes masters and royalties to my own label and brand. Other than that, i’ll stay independent with the help of good distribution and management.

My biggest supporters are my family and people that i’ve connected with in other areas and states. As crazy as it seems but i don’t get the support i should on Greenville.

I’m currently working on an EP “Mamba Mentality” and a mixtape called “Stuc’ in da Past”, jacking all old beats that people may have forgot about.

My latest release is a song called “I made it”. It’s set to be the outro to my upcoming EP, produced by 808Kartel.

My next release is a single called “Honest” and a compilation mixtape track on Fab & Jada “Hope” instrumental. This summer is gonna be crazy.

One place i would love to travel to and perform is New York. The mecca. No need to say anything else.

The biggest crowd i’ve ever performed in front of was a small crowd of maybe 100 people. A small lounge spot that catered to upcoming local and independent artists. It was a paid contest and chance to open up for Renni Rucci.

One person i could see myself on tour with is Rick Ross. He just gives you positive vibes and rich conversations. He also will let you loose to do as you please to take advantage of the opportunity and network within the right circles. I think he genuinely will help you in the direction of the right resources to follow your path.

In 5 years i want to be established as a CEO of my own Label and Brand with a steady income flow and maybe some land somewhere where i will have a professional studio built. I also want to be relocated to an environment and economy that suits my future career goals.
