1. What is your name?
My real name is Kevin Strayline but on the mic, I go by “Stray”.
2. Would you rather have? 50k in cash or a perfect credit score, and why?
In the grand scheme of life, that perfect credit score is a no-brainer. But w/ the way things are looking now, that $50k in cash would have to be the choice.
3. Who is your favorite producer?
My favorite producer of all-time is Dr. Dre. I grew up hearing his music at a very young age & was ultimately inspired by his production, as well as Eminem’s lyrical ability.
4. Are you a touring artist or a recording artist?
Due to COVID-19 & the fact that I’ve just began recording music this past summer, I am currently a recording artist who has yet to tour.
5. Have you ever thought about quitting music?
Even if I never make a single cent off of any song I’ve ever made, I will continue to make music for as long as I live. It’s something I wanted to do for a long time & it is extremely therapeutic for me. When I get behind the mic, I unleash everything I keep buried inside. It’s my only healthy outlet.
6. Favorite Era of music?
My favorite era of music is undoubtedly the entire 1990’s. Untouchable. The late 60’s/early 70’s get an honorable mention here as well.
7. Do you plan on traveling?
I’m somebody who doesn’t come from much, so traveling to far away places is not something I’ve ever really experienced. However, I am open to it & hope to one day have the means to see the many places I wish to see eventually. Hoping my music can take me there.
8. Are you an independent artist or are you signed or under any management?
I’m an independent artist who recently just signed under Entourage MGMT. Shoutout to Entourage!
9. What was your most memorable concert, did you perform at it?
I’ve never performed on a mic in front of a crowd, but I used to perform as a DJ for musical artists at an independent level. Mostly along the Jersey Shore. My most memorable concert would have to be a tie between the time I saw Funk Volume(Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton) perform & the Hot 97 SummerJam where I got to see Mobb Deep(R.I.P. Prodigy) & the late-great DMX.
10. What was your biggest challenge that you had to overcome during your music career, so far?
My biggest challenge I’ve had to overcome at this point in my music career is getting my name out there w/ a small budget & doing everything on my own. I’m a 1-man show, I do it all on my own. As for the budget issue, my family & I lost our business due to COVID-19 & that threw a monkey wrench into many of my plans. That, & getting left by my fiancé over a text message because herself & her family ain’t believe in me enough. Only inspired me more to make them regret that shit. Y’all gonna know my name.
