Interview With The Legendary Alex Kautz

1. What’s your name?

ALEX KAUTZ

2. Where are you from?

Mansfield, Texas.

3. How old are you?

I’m 27 years old.

4 . When did you start making music

When I was 13 years old.

5. How serious are you about your career?

I’m dead serious

6. Have you ever thought about quitting music?

Music is the one thing I always seem to gravitate back towards, so… no! I would never quit music. Music is my favorite thing.

7. Who inspires you the most?

If you listen to my records, it would seem like relationships mostly… but, yeah. I am inspired by everything so I would hate to laminate it to just relationships.

8.What got you into making music?

I started playing guitar when I was 13 and was writing songs ever since. It’s just always been something that I do to process my emotions and I like getting a final product – then the song becomes like a time capsule.

9.Who is your favorite producer?

I love working with many – I always say you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket. But I love working with CutDownTrees (Christopher Lynn Shelton) and also love producing my own songs.

10. What is one of your best songs/beats?

I would say “gEt sToOpiD” or “Glory Daze” , or “We’re All Gonna Die” has the best beat out of the 8 songs from the new album.

11. Are you signed to a record or label?

I actually got tired of the Record Label game, so I created my own – Haus of Kautz Record Label – where I’ve released two albums underneath (“Alex in Wonderland” & “We’re All Gonna Die”) along with singles including “Bob Dylan”, “Dragon Eyes”, and “Spicy”

12. Have you ever performed?

My first performance was as Santa Claus in the fourth grade musical and… it just kind of grew from there.

13. Who would you most likely collaborate with?

Dua Duet with me Dua Lipa

14. If you could open for any artist who would it be?

Cher

15. What’s next for you?

I have already written my third album, Colorblind. I’m just kind of like, producing it myself and trying to find other people to collaborate with me.
