Lil Wayne recently shared his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans, following the mixed reactions surrounding the announcement. While many fans were excited about the news, some felt that Lil Wayne had been overlooked, leading to speculation about a possible snub. Lil Wayne later took to Instagram, expressing his disappointment, admitting, “That hurt, it hurt a lot.”
Kendrick Lamar later referenced the situation on his album GNX, subtly acknowledging the tension. However, during a recent appearance on The Skip Bayless Show, Lil Wayne revealed that he and Kendrick had cleared the air. “I’ve spoken to him, and I wished him all the best,” Wayne said. “I told him he better kill it.” Wayne also addressed Kendrick’s lyrics about “wacced out murals,” explaining that he didn’t take it as disrespect. “He’s a fan like I’m a fan,” Wayne stated. “He saw, like everybody else, how much it meant to me. I think that’s all he meant.”
The news that Lil Wayne and Kendrick are on good terms has brought relief to many fans. However, some have raised concerns about the impact this situation could have on Wayne’s relationship with his protege, Drake. In a podcast with Wack 100, Adam22 shared his perspective, suggesting that Wayne’s public support for Kendrick could be detrimental to his loyalty to Drake. “If Wayne was really riding with Drake, he wouldn’t be hopping on the phone telling Kendrick to ‘go kill it.’ What does that mean? It means go tell the world that Drake is a pedophile,” Adam22 argued.
Wack 100, however, disagreed with Adam’s viewpoint, defending Lil Wayne’s decision to mend things with Kendrick. He argued that Wayne did the respectful thing by making amends, and that this is what any honorable artist would do.
