Music composition involves rhythm, tune, notes, and often, lyrics. Several elements must come together to produce a harmonious finished piece. The process can serve as a metaphor in numerous industries, including ones that seem as far from music as one can imagine. Artificial intelligence (AI) innovator Iman Bashir uses this metaphor to discuss her innovative work in technology.
Her company, Craftly.AI, was founded after a series of missteps that led to a unified final product. Just as some artists write their biggest hits on a beverage napkin, Bashir came up with the concept for her business when she least expected it. The pieces simply fell into place at the optimal time when she realized what she was not doing correctly.
After attempting to complete projects by outsourcing developers, Iman Bashir realized she was not getting the desired results because she could not clearly communicate with these developers. Coding, much like music, is a language in itself, and Bashir needed to speak this language to express what she needed from people. Practicing coding around the clock fascinated her and created the desire to do something unique with this in-demand skill. She decided to pair up coding with search engine optimization (SEO) for a one-of-a-kind company.
Bashir was writing countless blog posts a day to drive traffic to the sites she managed but could not sustain both writing and scaling her coding business. That’s when inspiration struck: use AI for writing. With this, Iman Bashir discovered how to write a piece of code that allows users to input the information they need to write about then automatically generates content that sounds like a person wrote it. The finished product, Craftly.AI, is nothing less than a dream copywriting assistant.
It is also the crescendo to Bashir’s music metaphor. The piece has built up to this soaring high point, and the last question for the tech boss is whether the lyrics or tune was more important in her futuristic composition. Bashir definitely agrees that it was the tune as that is what sticks in people’s heads more than lyrics. She also points out that weak lyrics can be covered up by a great tempo, a concept that seamlessly translates to Craftly.AI.
