Nelly and Ashanti are returning to the small screen. Peacock has renewed their reality series Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together for a second season, according to Deadline, with production set to begin this month and a premiere targeted for later this year.
The docuseries, which debuted in June 2024, quickly became one of the streaming platform’s standout unscripted offerings. It ranked as Peacock’s second-highest-reaching unscripted original in its first year, earning praise across eight episodes that tracked the couple’s careers, personal lives, business ventures, and parenting journey with their toddler son, KK.
Pantheon Media Group and Velvet Hammer Media will produce the new season. Executive producers include Nelly and Ashanti themselves, alongside Tina Douglas, J Erving, Rebecca Quinn, Jennifer O’Connell, Nick Alarcon, Steve Michaels, Simon Thomas, Ariel Brozell, Oji Singletary, and Asabi Lee.
The renewal comes at a pivotal moment for the couple. Nelly and Ashanti first dated from 2003 to 2013 before rekindling their romance a decade later. They married in 2023 and welcomed their son, Kareem Kenkaide “KK” Haynes, in July 2024—giving Season 2 ample new material as they navigate newlywed life and first-time parenthood together.
Despite occasional public friction, the couple has maintained strong fan support throughout their decades-long, on-and-off relationship. We Belong Together has only amplified that goodwill, offering viewers an intimate look at their reconciliation and growing family. Season 2 promises to build on that foundation as the pair balance their entertainment careers with raising a toddler—a dynamic fans hope will prove even more compelling than the first installment.
