Rising hip-hop sensation, Rubi Rose, made quite a splash this Father’s Day by showcasing her affection and gratitude for her father, John Benton, in a lavish way. Through a string of Instagram stories on Sunday, June 18, Rubi shared heartwarming glimpses into her day with her dad.
What truly stood out, however, was the grand finale of her posts: a whopping $10,000 bank transfer to her father, light-heartedly captioned “Something light!”
One of her Instagram stories featured a throwback photo of a younger Rubi with her dad, accompanied by the message, “Happy Father’s Day to my papa.” Another story showcased Benton engaging in leisurely activities, with Rubi attributing her own audacious nature to his influence.
Rubi’s financial prowess is evident, but it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the rapper. Recently, she found herself entangled in a legal squabble. An LA-based artist, Analia Saban, filed a civil lawsuit against Rubi, alleging that she wreaked havoc on Saban’s art pieces during the filming of her music video “Twork.”
According to court documents, Saban contends that Rubi employed a high-pressure fire hose during the shoot, which consequentially damaged her sculptures. Saban is seeking damages in excess of $300,000. To put this in perspective, Saban’s artworks typically retail for around $3,500 and above.
Controversy isn’t new to Rubi Rose. Previously, in August, she was embroiled in a heated debate concerning racial terms, after she stated that she personally has no objection to non-Black individuals using the N-word, as long as there is no malicious intent behind it.
As Rubi Rose’s star continues to ascend, her audacious persona both on and off the stage remains the focal point. Whether it be through her generous acts or the controversies that surround her, Rubi is adept at capturing the public’s attention.
