Sit Down Interview With Unstoppable Orlando Florida Artist Old Man Brandon

Q.) What is your name/stage name?

A.) ” Old Man Brandon “

Q.) Where are you located?

A.) “ Orlando, Florida. “

Q.) What is the meaning behind your name?

A.) “ I walked away from my other artist name that I was known by after I found God. So when it was time to pick a new one I know I wanted my real name Brandon in it this time. After spending days trying to figure out what would sound good and coming up with nothing my girlfriend Jess jokingly said “You’ll figure it out Old Man”. I said that’s it! That’s the name! Old Man Brandon. “

Q.) What are your roles within the music industry?

A.) “ I’m not in it lol! I don’t know if I ever could be honestly. I’m always creating a different kind of album or concept. I think the industry wants you to duplicate what you did before for the most part. I used to be signed to an indie label under my other name but I wouldn’t count that as a major label or anything industry standard. “

Q.) What got you into music?

A.) “ I used to ride around with my older cousins a lot as a child and they would play rap music. One day my cousin played a N.W.A. song titled 100 miles and Runnin and that was it. I was hooked. even though I wasn’t rapping myself at that point I started listening to all kinds of rap on my own. By the time I turned 12 or 13 I started rapping. Praise the lord we didn’t have social media because I was horrible. Just keeping it real! “

Q.) What type of music do you make?

A.) “Music about God, Mental Illness, struggle, hardships, relationships, drive & passions, my past, and of course I like to tell other peoples stories too as you can see on my new album The Storyteller “

Q.) How long have you been making music?

A.) “ At 13 years old I was laying down vocals with a tape recorder next to a stereo lol. I didn’t step foot in a real recording studio until right around 21 I believe. I would say I have been putting out music seriously though since 2013 when I dropped my first big album under my other name. I went into massive dept creating that album. It had featured legendary artist’s on it and everything. So long story short, I would say I have been making music seriously for 10 years straight. Coming up on 2 years though under the name Old Man Brandon. “

Q.) What are you making music for?

A.) “ For God, myself and people who enjoy it. ”

Q.) What’s driving you?

A.) “ Feeling vulnerable answering this truthful but it feels like it’s all I have at the currant moment. I lost my job after 15 years. Suffered a mental breakdown that I wasn’t able to fully recover from until now, at least I feel mentally stable again. Unfortunately, now my back is in pretty bad shape as well. I had a back surgery in 2019 a week after my mom passed away and two days ago I had two injections in my back. I’m doing everything in my power to get better and get back to work but hey… It’s in God hands from here. I will let him guide me.” I could go on and on about more problems but you can just listen to the album Therapy Tapes. That should get you up to speed. “

Q.) Who are your biggest supporters?

A.) “People who truly love my art, support it, and share it music wise.“

Q.) Are you signed to a label?

A.) “Not anymore, I was signed to a small indie label many many years ago.“

Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?

A.) “ If I could get a better distribution deal I would love to!” Not that mine is bad at all but If I can get a bigger percentage of streaming that is worth looking into.“

Q.) Who are some features that you have?

A.) ” I have a collab album coming in the near future with some BIG surprises. I don’t want to spoil it!” I’m not say this to build up fake hype, I swear lol. It’s an album I’m in the middle of creating and have all the features done except one. “

Q.) What was it like working with (collab)?

A.) “ I love how every artist is so different… It’s so interesting seeing how they create and get into the music. Sometimes it’s just exciting talking with other artist’s about the music right before the creation. When the ideas are just spilling out in conversation. It feels so nice knowing I’m not the only weirdo out here when it comes to creating music. BTW, I mean that in the most complementary way possible of course. Other times, an artist can be a bit more private. They just want to know the subject/topics and the feel of what I’m going for and the let the art do the talking. “

Q.) Who are some features you want to get?

A.) “ Sevin, Bizzle, & NF are a couple artist’s I would really like to work with. “

Q.) Who’s one person dead or alive that you’d want to work with?

A.) “ 2Pac! nobody had heart like Pac on a track. ”

Q.) is there anybody else you want to shout out for any reason?

A.) ” Oh man…Wyshmaster, Impala drummerz, Anno Domini, legion beats, David Linhof, Benzmuzik, OBMP beats, Jay Ho beats, & L williams beats! These are all very incredible producers I love working with. ”

Q.) What are you currently working on?

A.) “ A couple of surprise and one you now know is a collab album. “

Q.) What is your latest release?

A.) “I just dropped 2 albums Sept 9th. The Storyteller and A Song A Day. Those are my two newest.“

Q.) When is your next release?

A.) “ Everyone be ready for a surprise on October 14th! Let’s just say it’s an experiment.“
