Meet Kyle Shirk, a rising artist with roots in Newtown, Connecticut, who’s turning heads recently in the music scene. Now based in Los Angeles, Kyle didn’t initially set out to be a musician—he was actually recruited for lacrosse in upstate New York. But when COVID-19 hit during his senior year of high school, the unexpected pause in the world gave him the push he needed to start writing and performing his own music.
Kyle’s musical journey began in an unexpected way: at seven years old, he went to a Jonas Brothers concert in Charlotte, North Carolina. Seeing Nick Jonas perform on a gleaming white piano inspired Kyle to start learning himself. He began with formal lessons but quickly realized he could learn faster by ear, moving on to YouTube tutorials and self-teaching, which eventually led him to start writing his own music. Years later, a stint in his parents’ basement during the lockdown was all he needed to kick-start his songwriting career.
Kyle’s music draws on pop and folk influences, taking inspiration from artists like Bensen Boone, Hans Williams, Harry Styles, Rex Orange County, and Ed Sheeran. Yet, Kyle’s sound is uniquely his own, with a mix of heartfelt storytelling and infectious melodies that stick with listeners.
His debut single, “Tears in Paradise,” captures a message that resonates deeply: it’s a call to follow your dreams and prioritize what truly makes you happy rather than sticking to the easy path. Carried by a moving piano melody and upbeat percussion, “Tears in Paradise” is an anthem for those chasing their dreams and crafting their own versions of paradise.
Now fully dedicated to his music, Kyle is ready to share his work with the world, with plans to release more songs that capture life’s highs and lows from his unique perspective. This is just the beginning for Kyle Shirk, an artist with an unwavering passion for music and a clear sense of purpose.
