As Shalev Haziza reveals, his foray into music happened almost by accident. “I made a bet with my friend that I could make a song, and then everybody started telling me the song was hot, so I posted it on Instagram,” he recalls. “It took off right away and I started to take it more serious, even though it was never really my intention to be a musician or an artist. It was like I flipped a switch and everything just happened out of nowhere.”
Raised in the New York Homes family development, Shalev Haziza previously devoted most of his time to playing basketball and football, with dreams of becoming a professional athlete. “Coming up in the projects, you grow up different and you learn fast,” he says. “There’s always violence and drugs, and if you don’t adapt you’re gonna be lost.”
