Rich Brian is stepping into a new artistic era with his latest single, “Little Ray Of Light,” marking the beginning of his first solo album rollout in six years. The Indonesian rapper-turned-singer has spent the last year and a half focusing on 88rising’s 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE initiative, a collaborative project with RCA Records featuring heavyweights like Ghostface Killah, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Smino, Amaarae, and BADBADNOTGOOD.
During those sessions, Brian discovered a newfound appreciation for analog instrumentation and vocal experimentation, leading to his most vulnerable and melodic track to date. “Little Ray Of Light” leans fully into his singing, delivering a hauntingly beautiful yet melancholic ballad about falling out of love. The song reflects on a past relationship, where Brian laments the loss of the “innocence” and “light” that once defined his partner.
Serving as the lead single for his upcoming album, WHERE IS MY HEAD?, dropping May 23, the track signals a major shift in both sound and storytelling for Brian. As he explores deeper emotional themes and pushes his musical boundaries, fans can anticipate a mature, introspective project that showcases his evolution as an artist.
