Drake may be preparing for his upcoming ICEMAN album, but he’s also facing fresh legal challenges. A new lawsuit filed in New Jersey is targeting the rapper, along with gambling platform Stake, streamer Adin Ross, and media figure DJ Akademiks over alleged illegal gambling practices and racketeering.
According to court documents reportedly obtained by Complex, a New Jersey resident has accused Stake of violating state gambling laws. The lawsuit claims that Drake, Ross, and Akademiks used their platforms to promote the site without properly disclosing their financial relationships, allegedly influencing users to gamble and lose money.
The filing also raises more serious accusations, including claims that the platform is part of a broader scheme tied to artificially boosting Drake’s streaming numbers. Specifically, it alleges that DJ Akademiks knowingly supported these efforts by promoting misleading information and benefiting financially through Stake’s tipping system.
Another key point in the lawsuit centers on Stake’s use of virtual currency—referred to as “gold coins”—which the plaintiff argues is designed to mask what would otherwise be considered illegal gambling under state law.
This legal action follows similar lawsuits filed in other states and comes after New Jersey tightened regulations in 2025, making participation in sweepstakes-style casinos illegal. The plaintiff is seeking compensation for gambling losses and additional damages.
All parties involved, including Drake and Adin Ross, have previously denied similar allegations. As the case moves forward, it adds another layer of scrutiny to the ongoing relationship between celebrities and online gambling platforms.
