Drake’s upcoming solo album ICEMAN is already generating significant buzz—and controversy—before it even has a release date. The project, expected to drop sometime this year, has become the centerpiece of a spirited debate between No Jumper host Adam22 and music manager Wack 100 regarding its commercial prospects.
The divide highlights Drake’s polarizing status in today’s hip-hop landscape. Optimistic fans are predicting massive debut numbers exceeding 500,000 units, while skeptics believe the Toronto superstar might struggle to crack 200,000.
On a recent No Jumper episode, Adam22 positioned himself in the middle ground, projecting approximately 400,000 first-week units—a figure consistent with Drake’s historical solo performance. Wack 100, however, offered a dramatically lower estimate of 175,000 to 250,000, suggesting 300,000 only if a major hit single emerges.

Wack’s comparison to Drake’s surprise collaboration with PartyNextDoor ( exy $ongs 4 U) drew criticism, as that project dropped with minimal promotion and short notice—hardly analogous to a proper solo rollout. J. Cole has also publicly expressed excitement for ICEMAN, adding to the anticipation.
The stakes are heightened by timing: it has been nearly three years since Drake’s last full-length solo album, making this his longest gap between solo projects. Whether the extended absence has built hunger or allowed momentum to slip remains the central question dividing analysts and fans alike.
