Chris King, known by his rap name G Money, is a rising recording artist hailing from Massachusetts, specifically the Boston area. As he approaches his 41st birthday this June, he reflects on his journey in the music industry and the personal inspiration behind his artistry.
G Money adopted his rap name after the passing of his sister Casonya, who he describes as a lovely young lady who lived with the motivation of a champion. Her memory serves as a driving force in his music, propelling him to create hits like “A Jam to Holla” and “Toasted” while also acknowledging and representing the growing Greenlife Communities.
Growing up, G Money was an Honors student and even spent a year of high school in Upstate New York. However, he ultimately dropped out of Seton Hall Catholic University in his sophomore year. He also faced challenges with his physical health, gaining weight while living in New York, but has since made positive changes to return to his original physique.
Family holds a special place in G Money’s heart. He has two brothers, one older who resides in the Midwest, and a younger brother who overcame struggles during his school years to make positive progress in adulthood. His mother Angela has been a constant support and coach throughout his life, and despite the challenges of getting older, they continue to stick together.
G Money’s passion for music started at a young age. As a teenager, he began
producing music using Jimmy’s 8 track and a computer gifted by his grandmother Nancy. He formed a duo called Killah with his buddy Matt, who was known as Mentality, and partnered with Jimmy Green, known as Sinical, while also excelling as the Captain of his high school basketball team. Standing at 6’1 1/2, he was known for his basketball skills, including his ability to dunk.
Currently, G Money has two albums under his belt, titled “Suburban Story pt 1” and “Suburban Story pt 2.” His music is known for its funky vibes and unique rhyme schematics. He mostly produces his music independently but occasionally collaborates with Co-Rapper Dude Des. G Money’s style touches on young adult issues while inviting listeners to groove along to his eclectic mix of rap, rock, pop, dance, and hip hop influences.
With a growing local fan base and a deep appreciation for music, G Money continues to make his mark in the music industry. His journey as an artist has been shaped by his personal experiences, his love for his family, and his passion for creating unique and engaging music. As he looks towards the future, G Money hopes to continue to inspire and connect with listeners through his artistry.
