With I AM MUSIC dropping this Friday, it’s only fitting to revisit one of Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert’s most iconic collaborations—“wokeuplikethis“*. This track not only defined an era of melodic trap but also showcased the duo’s undeniable synergy.
Though fans have long awaited a full-length collab project, it never materialized, and their relationship appeared rocky at times—especially leading up to Carti’s Whole Lotta Red era in 2020. Yet, despite the speculation and occasional feuding, Carti and Uzi remain two of the most influential artists in modern rap.
Carti’s ability to maintain superstar status despite not releasing an album since Whole Lotta Red proves that mystery, anticipation, and well-timed hits keep fans engaged in today’s social media-driven music landscape.
