LOS ANGELES – In an inspiring display of resilience and success, acclaimed singer SZA has taken to Twitter to address her haters and celebrate her achievements. The artist, known for her soulful sound and introspective lyrics, reminded her fans to stay true to themselves despite the negativity that may surround them.
“The net is not real,” SZA tweeted, dismissing the naysayers. “Ngas said my tour would never sell, and we were blessed. Ngas said my album wouldn’t do well, it’s wack, blah, blah. We were blessed. N**gas say a lot. That’s their job. [You] keep doing yours and being who God told [you] to be in real life. Love y’all.”
With a follow-up tweet, SZA proudly highlighted the extent of her blessings: “And by blessed, I mean a double-platinum album and sold-out shows all over the world. I really believed [people] ’cause they were loud. Turns out n**gas be loud [and] wrong every day lol.”
SZA’s rise to stardom has been nothing short of remarkable. After a five-year hiatus, she released her second album, SOS, on December 9, 2022, following the success of her debut album, Ctrl, in June 2017. In its first week, SOS dominated the charts, topping the Billboard 200, a groundbreaking achievement for the talented artist. To date, she has sold over 300,000 albums.
The accolades continued to pour in as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified SOS platinum just two months after its release, and later, double platinum, surpassing the two-million mark in sales. Notably, several tracks from the album, including “Shirt,” “Kill Bill,” “Good Days,” and “Low,” also achieved platinum status, solidifying the project’s triumph.
SZA’s success extended beyond the studio. In February, she embarked on her inaugural sold-out arena tour, captivating audiences in 17 electrifying performances nationwide. Billboard reports that the tour generated a staggering $34.5 million in ticket sales, a testament to the artist’s immense popularity and stage presence.
Adding to her list of accomplishments, SZA recently announced her co-headlining role alongside the vivacious Lizzo at the upcoming Made in America Festival, set to take place over Labor Day weekend. Fans can anticipate a powerful and unforgettable performance from these two powerhouse artists.
SZA’s story serves as a reminder that perseverance, authenticity, and talent can overcome any doubt or skepticism. As she continues to ascend to new heights, her message to fans remains clear: believe in yourself and ignore the noise.
